Prayers

Bart and I have an unofficial agreement that I, because he is so tired at night, say the nightly prayers and he, because he awakens earlier than I, says the morning prayers. Every night we go through a basic routine of me telling him to stay awake for the WHOLE prayer, and he protests that he ALWAYS does. Most of the time when I say "Amen," I wait for 15 seconds and then give him a nudge. He then quickly says, "AMEN!" overzealously, trying to convince me he was awake the entire time.

This happened last night.

Anne: "Should we say a prayer?"
Bart: "Yeah. Will you say it?"
A: "Sure, but you HAVE to stay awake the WHOLE TIME!"
B: "Oh, babe, I ALWAYS do."
A: "Mm-hmm." Proceeds to say the prayer.  "...Amen."

Silence. Nudge (sometimes these aren't so gentle).

B: "Amen!"
A: "You fell asleep again!"
B: "No I didn't. I heard the whole thing."
A: "Really. What did I say?"
B: (In sleepy, slurred speech) "You blessed the hat to stay on."

Like I said, "Mm-hmm."

That's so funny! That sounds like our house. If Ryan is still for 5 seconds he's asleep. Sometimes I want to smother him with a pillow because he has that gift (just kidding-I wouldn't...smother him...with a pillow...). Seriously though, Ryan & I have had whole conversations (although never about a hat!) that he never remembers! Ya gotta love these guys!

That is awesome. I love his answer about the hat staying on. Reminds me, slightly, of some missionary prayers I've had.

That's hilarious. I can't wait for Nathan to get off the phone with the other MICU senior to tell him. :)

Ha! Classic. Just the other night I could tell Alan was fading fast so I said, "Hey, lets say our prayers." He sleepily mumbled, "Whose turn is it?" I answered, "Yours." To which he replied, "I'll just take some infantry men and Germany can go." This in reference to our frequent Axis and Allies game where I inevitably play as the axis.

In an unrelated story... your husband calls you babe?
