Some people may call it cruel,

but I had to document it!

Jane was mad at me this morning because I wouldn't (couldn't) put her sandals on over her shoes, over her footed PJs.

OH THE DRAMA!!

Pirates Ahoy! ChaptAAARGH 1

(If you don't read this with a pirate accent, you'll miss the fun)

Here be, this jolly ole pirate,
THE DREAD PIRATE ROBERT

He and his wench, kARRi the Corrupt were washed ashore nearby.

We joined tharr pitiful wee band for much wanderin' and groggin',
searched fer booty, and frolicked in the sand.

Then they told us thar sad tale, of losin' their Toyota, and the search for a new vessel.

ChaptAARGH 2: Searchin' For a New Vessel

Since they lost thar transport (poor, poor, Toyota) to the mysterious doin's of their lass, Mary Moony, we searched far and wide fer alternative modes.

"This boat'll never do," says Robert. "Leave it to Davy Jones."

"I don't see a ship in this fountain, Grandpa, but thar's plenty o' booty!"

"We could rope some sea turtles..."

"...or borrow the Elizabeth II from the Lost Colony."

"Nah. I think it be cursed. I've already got Bob's Nob to me name.
Don't want to be atemptin' fate!"

ChaptAAARGH 3: Arrplane

We were so near Kitty Hawk, on the OBX isle, we thought perhaps we may pillage an' plunder an' scrap up an ARRplane

"This one looks nice!"

"Indeed it do. But thar's not a seat to be found. How'd I get me wench home, too?"

While we pondered upon this, we did some sight seein'.

And flew our kite for good measure.

ChaptAAARGH 4: The Final Frontier??

I think these pirates be drunk! 3 generations of swashbucklin' pirates,
NOT those futuristic scalliwags!

We went back to the village to sober up, do some resarch,

fit the pieces together,

and divide the booty.

Then we realized that ships really are an outdated mode of transport,
especially for pirates who live mid-desert,
so the Dread Pirate Robert and kARRi the Corrupt went home
via Delta ARRlines.
We hope they'll bring their pitiful wee crew back here soon.
In the meantime, rum all around!

Sleeping in the Nude-ish

The other night I put Charlie, clothed in his PJs, to sleep in HIS bed.
When I went to bed myself a couple hours later, this is what I found in MY bed.

(He DOES have a diaper on!)

I found his PJs wadded up in a pile, dropped carelessly off the side.

He does this every night now.
I guess we know his feelings on the subject of PJs.

(P.S. Can anyone tell me how to write something after the posted pics without having it underlined??)

Grandma and Grandpa Black Bart and Bart's sister came and visited for a week. We spent most of our time out on the Outer Banks of NC (aka: The Graveyard of the Atlantic) and had a blast! For a taste of our adventure, take a stroll through the next several posts. If you end up with a hankering to come visit for a little R&R, we've accomplished our goal!

Despite photographic evidence, even the kids had fun!

Lighthouses, Lighthouses, Lighthouses!!!

We tried, and I think succeeded, to hit every historical/fun sight beginning with all the lighthouses. I've never really been a huge lighthouse fan, but visiting a place where they are so essential has given me new perspective. They're lovely.  Anne's favorites were Currituck and Hatteras.

The First in Flight

We visited Kitty Hawk where the Wright brothers made the first powered flight.

This panorama is very small! We are standing at the marker where the plane took off and you can see the landing spots of flights #1 (around 120 feet), #2, #3, and if you look very hard #4 (+800 feet)!

The ride with Grandpa and Grandma must have been smooth for Charlie is asleep!
